Argan foundation was founded in 1992 by the Moroccan community in Amsterdam. Its main aim is empowering the youth, mostly in predominantly Moroccan neighborhoods of Amsterdam.
Argan Foundation strives for a society in which everyone has the freedom and opportunity to develop and participate. A society in which ethnicity, social origin, religion, political preference or sexual orientation do not stand in the way of the emancipation of people.
Argan Foundation contributes to this by:
– Strengthening the social competences of Amsterdam’s youth so that they achieve success, strengthen their position within the Dutch society and become an example for others.
– Bringing Amsterdam’s youth close to leaders from the civil society, politicians, and administrators making sure their voice is heard and acted upon.
– Bringing different groups of people and communities of practice together in order to exchange ideas about topical matters and taboo topics.
Argan Foundation organizes frequent debates and dialogue meetings and provides a platform for young people in Amsterdam where they can work on developing constructive debating skills.
