Under the campaign hashtag #EscortsOffline, a Moroccan hacker has reportedly attacked dozens of websites offering escort services and is threatening to release user data online.
The hacker, going by the name of ElSurveillance, has defaced more than 100 escort websites in past months, 37 in June alone.
According to an interview with website Data Breaches in December of last year, ElSurveillance cited religious reasons behind his anti-escort campaign which started in mid-2015.
“… I strongly believe that our bodies are gifted from Allah (God) to us to look after and not to destroy, And I always hated the idea of people selling their bodies for money which it gives a chance for the escort agencies to take advantage of these people who are in need…”.
According to the hacker, he has some 100,000 user records that he is threatening to release online.
In each #EscortsOffline attack, ElSurveillance, who claims to be from Morocco, replaces the home page of the targeted escort website with a religious message from The Holy Quran.
