RAM: customers left high and dry as company refused ticket refunds

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) airline will not refund customers for flights canceled due to coronavirus. Customers will receive travel vouchers instead.

Customers can use the voucher to book equivalent flights when flights are resumed later. 

The Moroccan Ministry of Tourism supports the company’s voucher policy and introduced a bill in early May to limit the economic impact on the Moroccan tourism sector. The bill 20.30 by Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui sets out measures to support the tourism sector after substantial losses due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Law 20.30 contains specific provisions regarding travel contracts, holiday homes, and passenger transport. The bill is governed by the law laying down special provisions for an emergency and allows the Moroccan government to take necessary measures to mitigate the consequences of the emergency.
